I am an Assistant Professor of Dance at Alma College. I held the same title at MSU in 2016/2017. In 2016, I received my MFA in Dance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I also hold a Master Degree (MA) in Performing Arts by the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) – Brazil. For the past 10 years I have been focusing on the integration of Somatic methods, especially Ideokinesis and Alexander Technique, to the process of teaching Ballet, Modern/Contemporary Dance and Improvisation. Additionally, as a Brazilian dancer, choreographer and teacher, I often combine my experience of Brazilian traditional Dances, such as Capoeira, with the principles of Somatic methods, which allows me to explore the physicality and fluidity of Brazilian dance forms as a tool to promote self-awareness, creativity and partnering in and positive environment.
